TAREA seeks to employ a qualified Resource Mobilization Officer to support the organization with the management of resource mobilization activities. The selected candidate will work closely with the Executive Secretary.

The position will be based at TAREA Headquarters in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.

Key Result Areas

  • Develop and implement Resource Mobilization Strategy.
  • Produce Resource Mobilization Plans and Reports.
  • Research and identification of relevant resources including identifying Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Applications (RFAs), guiding and coordinating responses.
  • Achieve appealing proposals and concepts and effective communication with donor focal points. Includes being TAREA’S focal point for resource mobilization and sustainability activities.

Specific Responsibilities of the Position will Include:  

  • Develop and implement a Resource Mobilization Strategy;
  • Manage the resource mobilization functions by monitoring and reporting on the Resource Mobilization Strategy implementation; 
  • Spearhead proposal development efforts ensuring efficient coordination with teams and the submission of high-quality grant proposals in strategic priority themes worldwide;
  • Develop or enhance resource mobilization tools as needed;
  • Continually seek innovative means of attracting new donors;
  • Monitor and maintain the proposal pipeline and generate monthly reports for management’s strategic decisions;
  • In collaboration with the Executive Secretary, engage in organizational brand building including the development of collateral materials to support fundraising efforts, such as brochures
  • Maintain the donor database in place to ensure it is an up-to-date and dynamic document and share its contents systematically with the Executive Secretary;
  • Document various meetings with donors, monitor required action, and accompany the Executive Secretary to meetings with donors, as required;
  • Maintain relations with donors and ensure they are consistently and timely informed on important operational Issues (donor retention). This includes effective communication with donors’ focal points and being TAREA’s focal point for resource mobilization and sustainability activities;
  • Develop tools and maintain communication with members and the public, inside and outside mainland Tanzania to increase visibility and partnership.
  • Develop a Resource Mobilization Manual that includes standard operating procedures and processes; and defines the direction of resource acquisition and utilization, approvals, and follow-up; and
  • Organize resource mobilization events, for example, Donor Round Tables, and exhibition events.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and skills Essential

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Sciences, International Development/International Relations/Strategic Management/Economics, and Management or its equivalent qualification in Accounting, Banking, Finance, and Management from a nationally recognized Institution; 
  • Two-year work experience in resource mobilization, proposal writing, and finance/management in an organization, preferably in an NGO environment;
  • Previous experience in resource mobilization or fundraising roles would be an added advantage;
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be results-oriented with a high sense of responsibility;
  • Strategic thinker, excellent team player with good management and interpersonal skills; 
  • Knowledge of grant management, monitoring, and evaluation practices;  vii)    Basic knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency; and viii)    Ability to communicate in English.

Desirable

  • Understanding of National and international policies, strategies and issues related to renewable energy and energy efficiency;
  • Familiarity with web publishing and interactive social media;
  • Being a member of TAREA will be an advantage.

The position is for an initial fixed term of two (2) years, renewable based on performance and availability of funds. TAREA provides an equal employment opportunity subject to the Tanzania employment laws.
