APOPO is looking for a highly driven and experienced candidate to join our international team as Financial Controller, where you will play a critical role in maintaining our organization’s financial integrity and stability.
Concerning the role
You will play a critical role in the organization’s financial operations as the Financial Controller, with a wide variety of responsibilities. Financial reporting, planning, analytical accounting, internal control, and cost control management are all part of the job. You will also be in charge of maintaining the financial systems (ERP), following up on donor contracts, and ensuring compliance with established financial regulations.
This post, which reports directly to the CFO, demands a candidate with strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to function in an international context. This position necessitates frequent foreign travel to support the many APOPO project countries. The ideal applicant will be stationed at the APOPO office in Morogoro, Tanzania, allowing for effective collaboration with the CFO headquartered there.
Your profile
Candidates for the job of Financial Controller should have the following qualifications, abilities, and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management, or a closely related subject is required.
- Certification as a CPA, MBA, or MSA is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting standards and laws.
- Extensive experience working with large donors, including at least one of the following: WRA, DGD, DFID, European Commission, Flemish Government, Belgian DGD, or UNDP.
- Advanced knowledge of financial applications and proficiency with ERP systems: Accounting software Sage BOB 50, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and Microsoft Power BI…
- International driver’s license.
- English fluency.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- High moral standards.
- Availability to travel.
- 4+ years of established experience in a finance-related function.
- 4 years or more of financial management experience, including budgeting.
