JOB TITLE: Kitchen Staff (4)

REPORTING TO: Restaurant Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the smooth operation of the canteen.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation of a variety of meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines to ensure consistency in food quality.
  • Cook and plate dishes according to established standards and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure that meals are visually appealing and appetizing.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan weekly menus that offer variety and cater to diverse dietary needs.
  • Adhere to strict hygiene and food safety protocols during all stages of food preparation.
  • Report any shortages or discrepancies to the Restaurant Supervisor.
  • Interact with canteen users in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Address special dietary requests and accommodate individual preferences whenever possible.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Properly dispose of kitchen waste in designated bins.
  • Implement waste reduction practices in food preparation.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate in hotel management or any other related field
  • Proven experience as a Kitchen Staff member or similar role.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare meals in a timely manner.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian regulations related to food safety.
