Job Description

  • To establish, operate, and manage an end-to-end credit operation for Personal and Private Banking, Credit in Tanzania, encompassing all parts of the credit life cycle. Oversee daily administration of PPB Credit processes and people.
  • Deliver a professional service against defined process measures that are connected with the credit risk management KRAs, as well as an agreed-upon SLA with all business units.
  • Create an efficient and successful recovery strategy for the PPB portfolio.
  • To lead and guide a team in charge of carrying out standard processes for originations and evaluation, account management and collateral, and rehabilitation and recovery.
  • To provide feedback on the development, implementation, monitoring, and agile adjustment of digital lending strategies and transformation.
  • Credit is approved within the scope of given authority.
  • To actively participate in credit risk management and watch list committee meetings, as well as to provide meaningful input into risk appetite discussions, portfolio management, and collections strategies, as well as to detect and evaluate shifts or changes in key risk parameters and their effects on portfolios and relationships.
  • Implement capacity planning models to ensure appropriate staffing for expansion and ‘business-as-usual operations.’ Take necessary action where capacity changes are required to improve credit policy adherence, customer experience, and so forth.
  • Evaluating credit capabilities within the team and recruiting, retaining, developing, and deploying people that are energetic, passionate, and have the necessary technical competencies and skills.
  • To actively monitor suitable metrics across the loan life-cycle to ensure that the origination, appraisal, and credit risk monitoring
  • To ensure that all internal and external reporting is completed accurately and on time, and that appropriate value-added insights into the portfolio are provided, so that both internal and external information users have a thorough understanding of the portfolio’s quality and the appropriateness of the processes.
  • Understand the total cost of credit for the PPB credit function.
  • Provide strong, transparent, and predictable credit losses within a predetermined overall cost (‘budget’) and ‘cost of credit’ framework.
  • On a regular basis, examine the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and provide comments to in-country management.

Credit Risk – BCB
Risk & Corporate Affairs
More than 10 years
Experience in analytical work (ideally in Credit Risk). Experience in managing a credit portfolio; managing credit risk. Understanding of the credit value chain.

  • A complete understanding of credit facilities and loan advances, lending criteria, credit policies, risk and financial analysis, credit control, and their application in emerging markets.
  • Credit analysis and risk management.
  • Working understanding of the bank’s operating system.
  • Portfolio analysis and management.
  • Credit Collection, Recoveries, and Rehabilitation
  • Understanding collateral and country legislation, as well as business practices, and being able to apply this information without jeopardizing organizational norms or rules.
  • Understanding rehabilitation and recoveries, as well as the value extraction advantage of keeping actual credit in the face of lower-than-expected credit losses.
  • The “Three C’s of Intuitive Lending” include scored lending fundamentals, account management practices, and rehabilitation and recovery practices.
