Safety Officer job vacancy at Goric Group Limited. We are looking for an innovative and qualified Safety Officer who establishes and upholds a secure work environment for all employees at our Bulyanhulu Gold Mine Project. This position encompasses diverse responsibilities, including ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and developing comprehensive safety policies, procedures and training programs.
Safety Officer responsibilities include:
- Support the development of OHS policies and programs
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
- Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven working experience as safety officer (mining experience will be an added advantage)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Swahili and English
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications (MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint)
- Proven OSHA trainings or any other related health and safety trainings
Work Roster
- (a) You will be required to work five (5) days on from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, and have two (2) days off
- (b) Your daily shift duration will be twelve (12) hours of which eight (11) hours will be working hours.
